POSITION TITLE: Director of Financial Aid
REPORTING TO: Interim Vice President of Business Affairs
LOCATION: Pendleton, South Carolina
Our partner, Tri-County Technical College, is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader
to continue to advance the College’s robust Financial Aid function and lead this charge as
Director.
This Director and team will serve over 7,000 students on the Tri-County Campus awarding $30
million in aid annually. The Director of Financial Aid will help author new solutions to meet the
College’s needs including better integrating processes with other departments and third party
providers as well as the development and implementation of new systems. A changing regulatory
environment and reduced public funding has elevated the importance of Financial Aid on this
campus, not only as a source of fiscal stability but also as a key ingredient for student success. This is
a challenging and highly visible role that reports to the Interim Vice President of Business Affairs.
The ability to collaborate across the college, and work and think strategically will allow the right
person to positively impact the lives and success of students in dramatic fashion.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
§ Assure the awarding of approximately $30 million in federal and state financial aid to over
7,000 students annually is efficient, effective, and compliant with all applicable regulations.
§ Develop processes, tools, and systems to continuously improve the financial aid function
and more seamlessly integrate it into the college-wide student enrollment process.
§ Develop communications and educate internal and external stakeholders about the impact
financial aid has on fiscal stability and student success. Work proactively with staff and other
college leaders to address emerging issues and impending changes to aid programs.
§ Assure risks associated with financial aid are well managed, particularly student loan defaults
and timely and accurate regulatory disclosures and filings.
REQUIRED COMPETENCES:
Advanced Knowledge:
§ A clear and deep understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations. Experience
aligning financial aid packaging strategies with institutional enrollment and retention goals of
the College.
§ Preferred strong working knowledge of Title IV regulations and state financial aid policies
and procedures.
§ History of data-driven decision making
§ Savvy with technology interfaces
§ Customer service orientation
§ Demonstrated collaboration experience with the Registrar, Admissions, Academic Advising,
and the One-Stop Concept on a college campus
§ A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
§ Passionate about creating a work culture for success
§ Leadership development for a team of six professional staff and two support staff.
Responsible for hiring, leading, mentoring and training with an emphasis on customer
service and best practices.

Based on the skills and experience of the chosen candidate, we are anticipating a competitive

WORK SCHEDULE of TRI-COUNTY TECHNICAL COLLEGE:
The office hours of the campus are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. With the
Friday hours of operation from 8:00a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
