Assistant Director of Merit
Awards
Coastal Carolina University
invites applications for an Assistant Director of Merit Awards. This position
reports to the Director of Merit Awards, Compliance, and Residency and is a
member of the Office of Admissions staff. This position manages the awarding,
verification and awarding of all merit-based awards to new freshman and
transfer students. This position also assists with meeting the University’s
enrollment goals as outlined in the strategic plan.
Duties will include, but are
not limited to: counseling students and families about University merit-based
scholarship opportunities; serving as a University resource to high school
guidance counselors and community college advisors about merit award criteria;
marketing the University message through individual contacts with prospective
students; training admissions staff on merit and talented based award criteria;
setting a high standard of professionalism for the Office of Admissions by
providing high quality customer service not only to students and the general
public but to divisional and university staff; and performing other duties
assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's
degree and related experience are required. Master’s degree and two (2) years
of related experience preferred. Prior experience in Admissions, Scholarships,
or Financial Aid at a college or university is preferred. Experience in
scholarship awarding and working with the Datatel/Colleague SIS is preferred.
Additionally, a successful candidate should possess the understanding of
admissions and the enrollment process plus a general understanding of financial
aid awarding; the ability to be consistently accurate at all times and to make
consistent and sound decisions based on facts; experience with Datatel Student
Information Systems; the ability to be systemic in prioritizing
responsibilities and expectations; superior analytical, oral, and written
communication skill; self-motivation; the ability to deliver superior customer
service to students, parents, and stakeholders; and proficiency in developing
spreadsheets and report writing; and strong statistical knowledge. This
position requires considerable contact with students, staff, faculty and
administration.

full-time position with benefits. State Pay Band: 05. Primary work hours are
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overnight travel required for
recruitment and professional development activities. Must be able to work
evenings and weekends in support of recruitment initiatives. Must be flexible
to meet special scheduling needs of the University.
