FINAL NOTICE - NOMINATIONS ARE DUE TO
KATIE HARRISON ON NOVEMBER 15TH!
Since 1966, SCASFAA has been able to
provide training, service, professional development, and support to the
financial aid community and the state of South Carolina because of the
volunteer efforts of our membership. Service to SCASFAA benefits your
office and institution, your colleagues, students and parents, while also
providing an opportunity for personal and professional development.
Serving as an elected officer also provides excellent leadership training,
experience and an opportunity to serve our membership in a tremendous way.
The Nominations and Elections Committee is now seeking candidates
for President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer-Elect, and Member-at-Large for
the 2015-16 year. The committee will recommend a slate of candidates to
the Executive Board for approval during the Winter Board Meeting in late
January. The approved slate will be presented to the membership in February
through the SCASFAA Scoop and website.
Please give consideration to this call for nominations and support
your professional organization by participating in its governance through
nomination of your colleagues or self using this form SCASFAA Officer Nomination Form.
Frequently Asked Questions about the
Nominations & Elections Process:
Q: May I nominate myself?
A: Yes!
Q: May I nominate my colleague?
A: Yes, but the committee requests that you ask first to ensure the
person is willing to run and to serve in the position if elected.
Q: May I nominate more than one person?
A: Yes.
Q: I’m interested in becoming more involved with SCASFAA, but I’m
concerned that I won’t have enough time to work on the Board. How much time is
involved?
A: Involvement in SCASFAA does require a commitment of time, but it
shouldn’t be any more intrusive than other volunteer commitments. The
Presidency requires a commitment both by the individual and institution, as
there is a not only the SCASFAA aspect, but also SASFAA requirements to
participate as a member of the regional Board.
Q: How many times does the Board meet?
A: The Board generally meets four times each year:
• Board Transition Retreat (1-2 days) – June
• Board Fall Meeting (1 day) – September/October
• Board Winter Meeting (1 day) – January/February
• Board Spring Meeting (in conjunction with the annual conference)
– April
Q: What does each of these positions do?
A: You can find an in-depth description of each Board position,
including goals and objectives, in the SCASFAA Policy and Procedures Manual and
on the second page of the Nomination Form.
Q: How do I nominate someone?
A: Send the name and information to Katie Harrison. You can use the Nomination
Form linked above or simply send the requested information in an email.
Please send all nominations by November 15, 2014.
