Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position:
Financial Aid Counselor (Student Services Program Coordinator I) in Financial Aid and Scholarships. Duties include, but are not limited to: advising and counseling students, parents and prospective students on college costs, financial aid opportunities and eligibility; remaining current on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations; serving as backup for incoming emails for primary financial aid listing as well as receiving emails directly from parents and students; developing effective and accurate response to emails in a timely manner; coordinating with other front counter counselors to ensure that all correspondence to students is processed in a timely manner; serving as first contact for incoming calls for financial aid information; managing voicemails for the main phone line and ensures that phone calls are returned within 24 hours, except during peak times; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; presenting information at on-campus and off-campus financial aid workshops and information sessions; and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree and prior experience in admission, student recruitment, student services and/or student life in a college or university setting required. Sensitivity to the needs of all prospective students and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and counselors is expected. Experience in financial aid preferred. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess: strong organizational skills; the ability to relate well with students and family members and work in team and independent environments; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; a willingness to assist current and prospective students and their families in financing a college education; the ability to read and effectively interpret policy and regulations; the ability to understand priorities and deliver projects on time; the ability to cooperate with other departments; the ability to be adaptable; outstanding oral, written, and organizational skills.
