Dear SASFAA,
I hope the summer is
treating you well (or at least as well as Title IV rules and regs will allow
nice treatment). Now, I know my last Bartnicki Bulletin caused some
unrest among the schools since I had announced I was leaving training.
So, for this bulletin I thought I would provide information that would make you
happy (or as happy as financial aid officers can be). Guess who is going
to be your new training officer for the Southeast region…me. I know, I
know, I just left but when tasked with finding a replacement for David
Bartnicki, we realized that the only person who could replace David Bartnicki
was David Bartnicki.
In all seriousness, some
recent family concerns and issues had come to light that we realized were
better dealt with under the flexibilities and opportunities afforded a training
officer than with the demands and constraints associated with the School
Participation Team. We were also unable to find a training officer replacement
at this time for the Atlanta Region so it was a win-win for everyone. I
guess once a training officer, always a training officer.
With all that said I am
transitioning back into my training role this week – be kind with your emails
and phone calls. I am happy to report that I will be representing ED at
the SASFAA NAOW in Spartanburg, SC later this month and hope to see many of you
at future conferences and workshops.
In the interest of
preventing rumors I do want to point out the following: I am not coming
back because GASFAA has never given me an award (how ironic); I am not coming
back because my American Idol tryouts were a disaster; I am not coming back
because I was bored (though I have to admit you keep me on my toes); and I am
not coming back because Amy Berrier won the SASFAA election and will need all
the help she can get. I can say that I love working with our schools and
look forward to many years of productive, fun-filled and informative training
sessions. At this point I am the only training officer stationed in
Atlanta but we hope down the road to be able to add another trainer as well.
I also promise to have
information on the Bartnicki Boys in the next bulletin. I can say that
they are doing well and have all progressed to the next grade – yeah!!!!
I am once again your
neighborhood FED (my contact information has not changed),
DAVE
David Bartnicki
Federal Training Officer
ED/FSA/Atlanta
