DACA Deferred Action changes for 2014-2015

Hello SCASFAA,

Though international students in the U.S. under DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) are not eligible for Federal or State Aid, we often have them come into our offices and ask about financial aid eligibility.  I personally advise them that they can apply for many scholarships online and may want to pursue private loans.

For those of you who deal with this question, you may want to be aware of changes in DACA occuring this year.  Most Deferred Action cases expire this year.  There is a new process, and those who will expire should apply 120 days before their expiration date.

If you are interested, you can find more details here:

Thank you,
Ken Cole
SCASFAA President-Elect
