JOB TITLE: Finance and Registration
Center Generalist and
Assistant to
the Director of Financial Aid
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
- Perform a
variety of tasks involved in all phases of the enrollment process; respond
to financial aid and billing inquiries; assist students, faculty, staff,
and the general public with financial aid and billing processes. Assist students and parents with
financial aid counseling and documents. Serves as the College’s Veterans’
Affairs Officer and Work-study Coordinator, Tuition Exchange Liaison and
State Residency Expert.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Finance and
Registration Center:
- Serve as
first point of contact for visitors to the Center.
- Provide direct front-desk customer assistance; directs
and provides information to customers, and facilitates the resolution of
customer concerns and queries.
- Provides information to students and families
regarding the options for obtaining financial aid, the process for
requesting aid, and the eligibility requirements for receiving and
maintaining aid.
- Greets visitors in person or on the phone, providing
customer service with advice and guidance regarding the financial aid or
billing process; may refer customers to appropriate department or college
site.
- Cashes checks, processes petty cash, takes student
account payments.
- May process cash receipts and cash-related
transactions.
- Perform general data entry.
- Maintain student files.
- Compliance with the College’s Service Expectations.
Exhibits courteous manner and excellent problem solving skills on the
telephone and in person.
Financial Aid Assistant:
- Coordinate the Federal Work Study, Tuition Exchange
and Veterans Administration Educational Benefits Programs and serve as
State Residency Expert.
- Certify SC Teachers Loans.
- Complete Federal Verification on all selected
students.
- Prepare Invoices for Outside Scholarships and State
Pre-paid Tuition Plans.
- Run and process weekly Admissions Reports.
- Serve as Web Content Manager for the Financial Aid
portion of the College Website
- Assist with TEACH Grant Program.
- Complete DSS and Praxis Forms.
- Supervise student workers.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Excellent
customer service and telephone skills required.
- Computer
proficiency required.
- Prior work experience in college setting preferred.
- One year experience in a high traffic office setting.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work in a cooperative team spirit.
- Openness to work with all Converse administrative and
academic departments.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and handle
confidential information in a discrete and professional manner.
- Familiarity with Title IV and State financial aid
programs preferred
SPECIAL
CONSIDERATIONS: Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping,
crouching, walking and occasional lifting of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
