Hello
SCASFAA friends and family!
I
hope your first weeks of the Fall semester have gone well. The rush is still
on, I know, but hopefully it's calming down. Perhaps you will have a few
minutes without a line where you can take a minute. If you do, please close the
door, take a breath, and remember....what you do is making a difference. Sure
there is that student who thinks you are just the worst person in the world.
That's probably the student who filed their FAFSA yesterday and just HAD to have the overage check today and
doesn't understand why it just doesn't work like that. Or maybe it's the
student with 24 attempted hours, 12 earned hours and a 0.50 GPA who says you're
being mean when you said, "'College is hard' isn't a good enough reason to
approve an appeal." But, for each of those, remember....there are a
hundred more who think you are awesome. They may not realize it. They may think
that when they filed their FAFSAs a magical leprechaun paid their bills, and
the goblins who work at the bank put the refunds in their accounts. They may
have no idea of the incredible work you do. It may never even occur to them to
show their appreciation, but you can bet they are happy to not be in that line
outside your office.
So, on behalf of every one of these students
and their parents and everyone who gets a paycheck -in part- because of the
hard work you do (professors, staff members, deans, chancellors, and
presidents)...
THANK YOU, YOU ARE AWESOME!
Kenneth
