The Director of the Financial Aid Office at Spartanburg Methodist College is responsible for providing leadership and management of a department of 3 staff members. Oversees functions related to financial aid and enrollment certification for Veterans. Supervises and evaluates staff; prepares reports adhering to state, federal, and local guidelines; maintains focus on quality and convenience to the students.

Responsibilities may include developing and implementing annual plans; coordinating and participating in outreach to external stakeholders; developing procedures; conducting research; preparing formal reports for external regulatory organizations; determining departmental policy; and recommending and monitoring a budget.

Job Requirements

•Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred)  in a related field required

•Minimum of 8 years work experience in a Financial Aid department required

•Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience at an assistant director and/or director level position (or higher) required

•Proven working knowledge in a student/financial aid database system

•Thorough knowledge of federal, state and institutional aid programs required

•Proven experience researching federal and state regulations required

•Ability to work a flexible schedule to include office hours as well as potential extended hours and weekends required

•Demonstrated mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills required

•Ability to multi-task effectively managing simultaneous projects and a large number of employees required

•Demonstrated ability to diagnose and develop solutions to complex problems required

•Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment required

•Effective project management skills required

•Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse groups of stakeholders, both inside and outside the college required

•Possess and demonstrate strong customer-service orientation skills and commitment to quality required
