Minimum Requirements
|
Bachelor's degree in related field and 2-3 years experience in
financial aid or higher education administration. Master's degree in a
related field preferred. Prior financial aid experience is preferred. Must
be well organized and able to work in a problem solving capacity with
students/parents. Experience with SunGard Banner financial aid preferred.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education
are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
|
Attention to detail is critical and should be evident in all
work. Requires effective listening, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct presentations to groups large and small, evidence of
appropriate financial counseling skills, and experience in making
independent professional judgment decisions are essential for this senior
level position. Must have ability to coordinate multiple financial aid
programs and processes and ability to handle and respond timely to high
volume emails and telephone calls.

Additional Comments Regarding Position
|
Occasional overnight travel, infrequent weekend & evening
presentations and overtime are required during peak processing times.

1. Serves as a senior level Counselor in all aspects of
client services through office visits/appointment, telephone calls,
emails, the web site, and front desk, including the dissemination of
general information. Performs needs analysis and counsels students/parents
on how to pay for college, personal financial planning and debt
management.

2. Manages all private Alternative (ALT) Loan Programs,
including loan certification, payment scheduling, and authorizing return
of funds to lenders. Stays abreast of issues in the private loan
industry. Develops web based counseling for borrower's regarding
eligibility, smart borrowing practices, and loan application procedures.
Makes recommendations, implements, disseminates, and monitors procedures
to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policy. Works
closely with supervisor to ensure Alternative Loans are processed in a
timely and efficient manner. Develops policies & procedures and
communicates them appropriately across campus. Coordinates ALT Loans with
federal, state, and institutional aid programs to provide superior
customer service to students and their families. Provides training to
financial aid counselors who certify ALT Loans and informs other
appropriate offices on campus of changes to programs, policies &
procedures. Serves as the coordinating liaison between the student loan
applicant and the lender.

3. Coordinates Athletic Grant-in-Aid for all sports programs
ensuring compliance with NCAA guidelines. Responsible for coordinating
AGIA awards with federal Title IV funds and with State Scholarships in an
efficient and expeditious process. Ensures compliance with federal and
state regulations; stays abreast of regulations and pending legislation
affecting these programs. Develops and refines policies & procedures
as needed.

4. Provides supports for the Veteran Benefit certifications.

5. Assists with community service outreach programs both on
and off campus including high school workshops, college open houses,
presentations to special groups. Supervises the student Peer Counselors.
