IRS Data Retrieval and Address Abbreviations

There are some instances in which the address on the tax form and the address for IRS Data Retrieval are different, causing an unsuccessful match when attempting IRS Data Retrieval. Here is some valuable information to note from David Bartnicki.

"We have found out that for some folks, who have updated their addresses with the USPS, the USPS communicates that information to the IRS.  So, some tax filers will have address information that matches what the USPS has, rather than the tax filer information."

In one case the address on the 1040 was:
151 North Main Street
And the address that allowed a successful match was:
151 N Main Street

In the other case the address on the 1040 ended in "Road" but the address that allowed a successful match ended in "Rd."
